Kia Ora Whanau,
As some of you may now be aware the RoVE announcement has been made and I am pleased to say that I believe it to be business as usual for students! Over the next few weeks/months I will continue to gather whatever insight and information I can into the new system, however, we have been given assurance that you can keep enrolling, continue the courses you’ve started, and keep on pushing forward as the ministry unrolls RoVE. It is all seeming very positive, and in light of the news article a few weeks ago surrounding the “leak” I would like to clarify that NMIT will live to fight another day, and tertiary education will be remaining in our region!
In essence the New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology (NZIST) will be established, with regional subsidiaries. What this means for us all as students is that we will not experience any disruption to our current progression, and that everything else will be happening in the background. What is shining through is that the government has listened to student needs, and we look forward to see what structure and support will be put in place to continue empowering the independent student voice.
We will send a link to documents but should you be left with unanswered questions, email me at email@example.com and I will endeavor to answer or find answers to your questions.
I would like to thank the SANITI team for their continued fight to ensure that student needs are met and their assistance in helping me ensure your voices are heard both here and at a government level!
